Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney was born on October 24, 1985 in Croxteth, Liverpool, UK. Rooney started football at Liverpool Schoolboys when he was 10 years old. Throughout his career, he played in striker and atticking midfielder positions. He continued his career in Everton infrastructure from 1996 to 2002. He made his first game professionally in 2002. The goal he scored at the age of 16 is his first goal in the Premier League, making him the youngest player to score a goal in league history. He spent two seasons in Everton. Before the 2004-05 season started, Wayne Rooneytransferred to Manchester United for £ 25.6 million.

He won five Premier League (2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2012-13), one UEFA Champions League (2007-08), UEFA Europa League (2016-17) and FA Cup (2015 (16), three EFL Cups (2005-06, 2009-10, 2016-17), four FA Community Shields (2007, 2010, 2011, 2016), and one FIFA Club World Cup championship (2008) with Manchester United. In September 2013, the number of goals scored in the official matches he played with Manchester United jersey exceeded 200 and became the fourth player to pass this dam.

Wayne Rooney is the top scorer in the history of the club with 253 goals; At the same time, he is the second top scorer in league history after Alan Shearer with 208 goals in the Premier League, and since he recorded 183 of these goals with the Manchester United shirt, he is the player with the most goals in the Premier League with only one team shirt. He wore the England team shirt in the 2004, 2012 and 2016 European Football Championship. Rooney also played for national team in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup.

He became the youngest player to score in the history of the European Football Championship with two goals he scored in Switzerland at the 2004 European Football Championship. In addition to being the second player with the England national team , he is the country’s top scorer with 53 goals. 2011 ranked 5th in the FIFA Ballon d’Or rating and was included in the FIFA FIFPro World XI squad that same year.

In the first year Wayne Rooney came to Old Trafford, Rooney was given the number 8 shirt. He played his first match with Manchester United on September 28, 2004, against Fenerbahçe. It was a Champions League group match won 6-2. He scored three goals in this match. These goals, which he scored when he was 18 years and 335 days, made him go down in history as the youngest hat trick player in the history of the Champions League. He played his first game in the Premier League against United on 3 October 2004, against Middlesbrough.

He scored his first goal in the league with United jersey on October 24, in the Arsenal struggle, which ended 2-0 and ended his opponent’s 49 game invincibility series. On August 12, 2007, in the first week match of the Premier League, which was played with Reading and ended without goals; the left foot comb bone was broken. Having experienced the same injury before in 2004, Rooney  remained off the field for six weeks.Rooney, who missed 10 games in total due to injury, played 39 games;  scored 18 goals, 12 in the league.

On January 8, 2012, the Manchester City derby in the third round of the FA Cup managed to score 2-3 goals while winning the team 2-3. He reached 164 goals in official matches in his United career, and becoming the 7th most striker in team history. By an accident On a shooting before the Wolverhampton Wanderers match, which they won 5-0 on March 18, 2012, the ball came to 9-year-old Jamie Thomas in the stands and broke the boy’s wrist. Throughout his 13-year MANU career, Wazza scored 183 goals in 393 matches.

Come Back Home

On July 9, 2017, he signed a two-year contract with his former club Everton, after Manchester United did not charge a testimonial fee. After his return, he played his first official match with his club on July 27, in the first match of the third qualifying round of the Europa League, played with MFK Ružomberok, who won 1-0. He was the first player to cross the 200 goal threshold after Alan Shearer, scoring his 200th goal in the Premier League career at Manchester City away, which ended 1-1 on August 21. Rooney, who could not score in the matches he played in the second half of the season, scored 11 goals while playing 40 games throughout the season. Firstly played in DC United in the 2018-2020 season and then signed a contract with Derby County FC. In conclusion, the legend of Wayne Rooney still continues his football life.

From 16 years old to 34 years old

Rooney started his national team career by wearing England under 16 national team jersey and took part in the 2002 European Under 17 Football Championship. He elected as the player of the tournament. England played against Yugoslavia for their first and only match with the national team under the age of 19. He had his first tournament experience with the 2004 European Football Championship. He became the youngest footballer in the history of the tournament with two goals scored in the Swiss match on June 17, 2004.

However this record was broken 4 days later by the Swiss player Johan Vonlanthen. As he injured in a league game he played in April 2006, there was a risk that Wayne Rooney could not play in the 2006 World Cup and could not catch the old form even if he did. Rooney started 9 out of 10 UK games in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification in the first eleven.Meanwhile,  For Rooney, who could not score in the tournament, this tournament interpreted as “disappointing” by the press.

Succesfull Carieer

Within the scope of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Rooney managed to score the 30th and 31st goals under the national form in the match against San Marino on October 12, 2012. He become the fifth top scorer in the history of the England national team. After the 2014 FIFA World Cup, team captain Steven Gerrard announced that he left the national team. Then coach Roy Hodgson stated that Rooney appointed as the team captain. Rooney, was the third striker in the history of the national team, leaving Jimmy Greaves behind with the 44th goal. 

In 2016, wearing the national team jersey for the 116th time in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match played with Slovakia. Wayne Rooney became the second player with the UK national team after Peter Shilton. He played  his last game against the USA, and his international career ended with 120 games.
